It has also been said to have great potential to become a major supplier of Information Communication Technology (ICT) gadgets, capable of supplying the wares to other African countries.

Times of Zambia: GOVERNMENT says it has embraced the use of information and communication Technology (ICT) as it will reduce the cost of doing business and enhance economic development.
Minister of Communications and Transport Geoffrey Lungwangwa said the Government had embraced ICT because it played a vital role in the attainment of social and economic development.
Zambia: State Wants Rural Areas to Join ICT - 25th August 2009
Time of Zambia: THE Government has said rural areas should be connected to the information communication technology (ICT) network to encourage uniform development with other areas.
President Rupiah Banda said that the Government had come up with a national ICT policy to promote the use of ICT in rural areas.

The ONE-STOP connecting Rural Communities Forum organised by the CTO is here again. In its fourth successful year, this year’s conference will be in collaboration with the Ministry of Communication and Transport, Zambia, and is designed to prepare African ICT decision-makers for the next steps in driving rural connectivity.
